NWGPATM Project Narrative

Twenty-five years ago Dustin Hoffman’s character in The Graduate was told, “the future [in art] is plastics.” It was a time of Minimalism and Pop. While Susie K. took this as a sign to begin her salt and pepper collection, the influence of her latest collaborator, Jeff G. has led her on, shall we say, a more virtually realistic path.

Today, the artistic future is digital. To stay on the cutting edge, artists are collaborating to create new realities. The marriage of Ms. K to Mr. G. is as avant-garde a beginning as one could get in this process. Both artists are interested in messing (especially in the afternoon) a quality that paraphrases the uniqueness of the 90s with the marketability of the 80s. Downsizing is in. Conspicuous production is out!

In order to accomplish this goal, S and J are pooling their previous purchases and resources to create a state-of-the-art studio to take unique advantage of this latest bull market.

With this in mind, Susie and Jeff would like to apply to the NWGPATM program to help purchase a digital scanner.

The advantages of this collaborative acquisition are obvious:

  • More is more:
    • Networking our technological resources increases our artistic productivity and output logarithmically rather than arithmetically
    • The juxtaposition of two systems boosts service-oriented specialties to friends and family (you know who you are)
  • Less is more:
    • The less we have to spend for technology, the more we can spend on our forays into discount malls and specialty and exotic food stores for those je ne sais quoi items necessary for dinner and TupperWare™ parties that will make you want to come back for more
    • After in-depth research for the best possible model and price, we have found a scanner that will meet our needs well into the next century at a cost that is well within our means
    • As you can see from our Wedding Gift Grant Application Form our low overhead and well-greased organization has allowed us to eliminate all administrative costs —the full amount of the grant will be applied towards the purchase of the wedding gift
  • More or less:
    • After extensive and exhaustive research, this is the best possible wedding gift.
      • It merges our visual and verbal talents
      • Not one of our other friends or relatives thought we might really, really want this, but we digress
    • If this gift were any more “cutting edge” we’d have to go to the Emergency Room.
    • Our community of friends will benefit from the just-announced Friends & Family Discount Art (and related paraphernalia) Acquisition and Free-bee Program™ (details to be announced immediately after the awarding of the grant, as dictated by law)
    • If we’re a success, it reflects favorably on the funding Partners
      • If we look good, you look even better: if this doesn’t convince you, ponder this: with a scanner and digital technology, we can assure you that we will make you look better!
